A pair of coastal views of Venice and Lake Maggiore was executed in the last quarter of 19th Century and are typical works by renowned French marine, landscape and orient painter Ferdinand Bonheur (1817 - 1887), origin from the famous Bonheur family of artists. He recieved acknowledge for his paintings with motives from Venice, Istanbul, Orient, seascapes with French harbours. Inscription: one of two signed with illegible monogram: Ferd...B.." lower right and on the back of panel titled in French: Lac Majeur ( in English: Lake Maggiore), lower left.
Technique: each oil on wood panel, original period gold-plated frames.
Measurements: each unframed w 14 1/8" h 7 1/8" (36 x 18 cm); framed w 19" x h 15 7/8" (48,3 x 40,3 cm).
Condition: both paintings and frames are in very good condition. |
