This extreme rare Jewish painting, depicting prayer in a synagogue (in Antwerp or Amsterdam), was created in the end of 17th to early 18th centuries and came as restitution object from the well-known collection of Jewish industrialist jindrich Waldes in Praque ( purchased by last owner at the sale of the auction house Meissner/Neumann in Praque).
In the Nazi time this painting was confiscated with another works of art from the owner, famous Jewish-Czech idustrialist Jindrich Waldes ( he was lost in concentration camp in 1941). After WWII the work was a long time a exhibit of the Province State Museum in Brno. The collection was legally restituted in 1996 to the Waldes heirs. Our work was sold by Waldes heirs on the sale of Praque art auction Meissner/Neumann in 2000s.
