Landscape watercolour by famous Russian artist Dmitry Dmitrievich Prokofieff (1870 Nikolaev, Russian Empire, now Ukraine – 1944 Kevelaer, North Rhine-Westphalia,Germany). Painter, watercolorist, of old Russian of nobles; The son of the captain of the 2nd rank. Brother of Academician of architecture and artist-watercolor Nikolai Prokofiev (1866 – 1913).Received art education in St. Petersburg, was auditor Jah. Participated in the last, 38 exhibition of the Society of Russian Watercolors (1918).
In 1919 emigrated, settled in Berlin. Got fame as a painter-animal, Master of hunting scenes. In 1937 he received a silver medal at the International Exhibition of hunting in Berlin.In 1945, after destroying his home and workshop, fled from Berlin to the western part of Germany. For some time lived in Bad Jemse, then in Dusseldorf-Oberkassele, was later invited to live in the manor house of Baron Rudolf von Lu in Vankume (Wankum) in North Rhine-Westphalia, where he continued to work actively.Died in St. Mary in Kevelare (Kevelaer). Buried there at the local cemetery.
