This genre painting was executed by good-listed German painter Emil Karl Brack (1860 Naumburg - 1905 Munich). Emil Brack begins his education as an artist at the Berlin Akademie, changing to Munich to study under Wilhelm von Lindenschmit the Younger. Study trips take him to Paris, Denmark and Italy, before finally settling in Munich around 1890. He is acknowledged for precisely expressed interiors, but mainly for his vital genre illustrations, which capture scenes from social and family life with a great love of the detail and psychologic empathy.
