High-quality portrait of a young lady from high society created by very rare and high listed latvian artist Ernst Gotthilf Bosse ( 1785 Riga - 1862 Florence). He was a student of Dresden Art Academy untill 1814 and from 1815 to 1820 studied in Rome. In 1820 he settled in Florence. For russian tsar he created copies after renaissance masters, many of them in minatures.( one copy after Raffael - in the cathedrale of Riga ). The peak of his craft are portraits of russian, latvian and german aristocracy. We think, our work is portrait of a lady from his russian period. His most famous portrait of Elizaveta Alexeevna, russian impress and the wife of Alexander I was estimated in auction "Russian painitngs" by Sotheby´s London for 120 000 british pounds ( Sale on 26.05.2004 , Lot 14 - look last photo). Artist´s portraits of Lady A. G. Wöhrmann(1821) and Mineralode E.M. Ulprect are in the collection of city museum in Riga ( Kataloque of Riga Museum , 1906).
