Nightly view of famous old spa town Kreuznach in German province Rheinland - Pfalz (in English: Rhineland) was executed by very good listed Belgian landscape painter Désiré (Désiré Charles) Donny (1798 Bruges -1861 Brussels). For topographic detection see add. images of identical old etchings.The artist studied: around 1818 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bruges by Joseph Denis Odevaere. Later Professor , before 1833 moved to Brussels, temporarily resident in Frankfurt am Main. Prizes: 1820 1st prize in the Salon Gent (Portr. M.G.Stapleaux et J.L.Geernaert). - at first portraits and historical genre, later especially harbour views and marinas, especially in the light of the moon. Stylistic parallel to Aert van der Neer d. Ä.
