Masterfully portrait of a young beautiful lady was executed ca. in 1810s and due to very similar manner and time of creation was attributed to famous French portrait painter of Classicism François-Pascal Simon, Baron Gérard ( 1770 Rome - 1837 Paris). A few female portraits by F.Gerard see on our additional photos.
Gerard grew up in Rome and love for Italian art later influenced his own paintings. Around 1782 the family came to Paris, where François studied in the studio of the sculptor Augustin Pajou. At the age of sixteen, Gérard entered the studio of Jacques-Louis David and soon became one of his favorite pupils, specializing in portraits of French and Russian nobility.
