This classicist drawing depicts a Caucasian military rider and was executed ca.in 1800-1820s by the represantative of Russian or French School. Time of creation, style and motive are very close to similar drawings by two international renown military and horse painters of the early 19th century : Russian Alexander Osipovich Orlovsky (1777 Warsawa -1832 St.Petersburg) and French Horace Vernet (1789 -Paris - 1863).
Inscription: the monogram V on the horse rump, which could mean the name of the artist or the name of the regiment.
Technique: drawing - watercolour, matted and framed in the antique frame..
Measurements: unframed w 16" x h 10 7/8" (41 x 27,5 cm); framed w 22 2/3" x h 17 1/2" ( 57,5 x 45,5 cm).
