3 cooper engravings, hand coloured, depict types of different professions in the Ottoman Empire of 18th century. They were published in Augsburg ca. in 1770s-1790s by listed Augsburg etcher, printmaker and cartographer Matthew Albert (Albrecht) Lotter (1741 - 1810).
Content of lieves in the English translation:
1. Mahmud Bascha Sakha Baschi. A water carrier in the ceremonies clothes; Hussein Aga, Chamurzi. Cook of Bacherey;
2.Aron, Jew and Consular translator; Abdi Aga, the legation writer;
3. Muhamed Aga , Muezzin, who call to prayer; Apubekier Effendi, Imam, your spiritual;
Literature: Thieme/Becker "Allgemeines Lexikon der bildenden Künstler von der Antike bis zur Gegenwart" (in German).
Inscription: each signed in print M.A.Lotter exc., lower in the middle, descriptions in German under each figure.
Technique: each: hand coloured engravings on paper, antique gilt frames of later period.
Measurements: each unframed w 5 3/4" x h 8 1/4" (14,5 x 21 cm ) , framed w 6 1/2" x h 8 7/8" (16,5 x 22,5 cm ).
Condition: in quite good condition, the leaves are slightly dirty.
