Beautiful genre scene of first half of 19 century , attributed by experts of Vienna Auctionhouse " im Kinsky " to Johann Matthias Ranftl (1805 Vienna - 1854 )
Johann Matthias Ranftl was one of the best representatives of the Vienna Biedermeier style of the early 19th century. His was often called by his contemporaries "Dog-Raphael".He studied under Peter Krafft at the Vienna Academy, made various study trips. The artist spent 1,5 years in Russia (St.Petersburg and Moscow), where he executed many commission works, mainly portraits and genre scenes. After the artist´s death his entire estate became part of the collection of the greatest Austrian exhibition hall "Wiener Kuenstlerhaus".
