Highest quality , master miniature portrait of a noble lady was executed in 1843 by famous Austrian portrait painter and lithograph Gabriel Decker (1821 Budapest -1855 Vienna). He was a member of large family of artists and studied under his father, watercolourist and miniature painter Johann Stephan Decker. Decker´s works were exhibited in 1905 at the Exhibiton of Miniature Paintings in Vienna and in 1924 at the Albertina (Vienna). His works are also located in numerous private collections.
Inscription: signed Gabriel Decker and dated 1845, vertically lower right.
Technique: Gouache on ivory. Original period bronze mount, faceted glass and frame covered with velvet.
Measurements: oval unframed w 10" x h 12 1/3" (25.5 x 31.5 cm), framed w 16 1/2" x h 19 1/3" (42 x 49 cm)
Condition: in very good condition, velvet is worn. |
