Fine panoramic view of Venice created by world-renowed Austrian landscape and architecture painter Karl Kaufmann (1843-1905). He studied at Vienna Academy and was active in Vienna in the 1900s. His Venice, Rome and oriental cityscapes brought him the world glory . Our painting was signed by the artist with one of his famous pseudonym "L.Bertini". This pseudonym is one of several pseudonyms adopted by artist Karl Kaufmann to circumvent the exclusionary contracts many 19th c. art dealers and galleries compelled their artists to sign. It was not unusual for popular artists to have contracts at various galleries under different names; this enabled them to offer their works in different venues without breaking any legally binding contractual agreements. They were thus afforded the opportunity for more sales. Full list of kaufmann´s pseudonyms represanted by on-line date bank www.artprice.de .
