Fine landscape with a lake was executed in 1886 by good listed German landscape artist Paula Bonte ( 1840 Magdeburg - 1902 Berlin). Painter in Berlin, pupil of Ed.Papes, then by von Kamiecke, sent since 1876 her works to exhibitions of the Berlin Academy. She created in the beginnig of carrier motives from Switzerland and Tyrol (castle Chillon, 1879; castle Chatelard, on the lake Geneva; Evening in the Bernese High land, 1881 and so on. Several of those went over in the possession of Emperor Wilhelm I ; later created also Norwegian and British landscapes.

Inscription: signed and dated "Paula Bonte, (18)86" lower right, on the back of stretcher - old label with the artis´s short biography and old indistinctly inscription " Kunstverein..".
Technique: oil on canvas, original period gold-plated frame.
Measurements: unframed w 26" x h 17 3/4" (66 x 45 cm), framed w 33 7/8" x h 25 5/8" (86 x 65 cm).
Condition: very good, original canvas cleaned by proff.restorer, no any inpaintings. |
