Lovely genre scene in the painter´s studio executed ca. in 1840s by good listed Belgian genre painter Florentin Houze (1812 Torurnai - 1905). Pupil of P.A. Hennquin in Luttich and of N. De Keijser in Antwerpen, lived and worked in Antwerpen and Paris, came back to Tournai in 1884, where recieved the order to create 3 paintings for the chapel of the monastery. Later settled in Brussels. He created historical, religious and genre paintings , which were exhibited under others in Brussels (1839), at the Berlin academical exhibition (1840). His paintings were awarded with in Brussels in 1842 with a medall. it´s a few his altar paintings situated in his homecity Tournai ( in The Magdalene-Church and the hospital Notre-Dame.
