Twilight Landscape with walking figures was executed by famous German painter Oswald Achenbach ( 1827 - Düsseldorf - 1905 ) . He was the represantative of Düsseldorf School and already during his life time one of most important landscape painters in Europe. His brother was the twelve years older Andreas Achenbach, who also belonged to the important German landscape painters of the 19th century. The two brothers were called ironically also the "nuts and bolts of the landscape".Born in Düsseldorf, he received his art education from his brother, Andreas Achenbach. His landscapes generally dwell on the rich and glowing effects of color which drew him to the Bay of Naples and the neighborhood of Rome. He also painted in the Bavarian Alps and Switzerland. From 1863 to 1872, he was professor of landscape painting at the Düsseldorf Academy. His conception of nature what more perfect than that of his brother. Achenbach attempted to convey social problem through his paintings. He died in Düsseldorf of to inflammation of the lungs.
