A pair of masterful family portraits by well-known austrian painter and miniaturist Karl von Saar ( 1797 - Vienna- 1853 ) . He studied at the Vienna Academy under Janscha and Maurer and exhibited in the academical exhibitions from 1822. First strongly influenced by miniatures of Daffinger, he later more followed the direction of Kriehuber, especially in his watercolor portraits. He belonged to the most favorite portraitists of the Austrian aristocracy.
