Oil study of a forest was executed ca. in 1870s by good-listed Austrian landscape painter Georg Geyer (1823 - Vienna - 1912). He was a pupil of Vienna Academy under Josef Moessmer, Franz Steinfeld and Thomas Ender. He frequently exhibited at the Exhibitions of the Academy and was adored for his perfect mountainous landscapes painted in the Austrian Alps.
