Masterfully carved antique silver snuff box with a female portrait miniature on the cover, gouache on ivory, gold-plated inner side of snuffbox. Several silver stamps, both: miniature and box - France or England , 18th century.

Inscription: few silver stamps on the back of the box.

Measurements: box: width 3 1/2" x depth 2 1/2" x high 3/4" (9 x 6,2 x 2 cm), miniature: w. 1 5/8" x h. 2" (4 x 5 cm).

Technique: miniature: gouache on ivory; box: silver.

Condition: a few minimal stains or flecks on the miniature.
