Artist Marcel Krasicky, born in 1898 in Kvasicich, Czechia, studied in Art School under Karl Truppe and in the studio of prof. Fr.Hlavici. Continued his education in Austria, Germany, Italy and in the Balkans. He was principally a portrait and figure painter, though he also painted landscapes. In the present composition, which was probably executed during the artist´s visit to the Balkans and Italy, bright colours of late-summer forest in the background and well drawn figure of a shepherdess in the foreground demonstrate his multi-sided talent.
