Salon genre scene in a noble interior depicts a beautiful aristocrat lady , dressed in a satin dress, standing at the table with female attributes, and holding in her hand a small mirror. This masterfully painting was executed by very renowed Belgian-French genre and portrait artist Florent Williems (1823 Luettich, Belgium - 1905 Neully , France). He was the father of the painter Charles Henri Willems, studied at the Academy Mechelen, settled in 1844 to Paris, where achnowledged as master of genre scenes with figures , dressed in costums of 17.- 18. centuries. "Willems was , because of the smooth completion, which he has given for his elegant ladies and cavaliers, particularly popular. All the richly colored satin, brocade and velvet costumes of this girls, carpets, curtains and furniture stirrer apartments he knew how to reproduce so that long time he was praised by the public as "modern Terborch" "(quote of Muther). Willems was the teacher of Belgian painter Alfred Stevens. Willems´s paintings represented in following museums: Amsterdam (Sted. Museum), Antwerp, Bruenn, Brussels, Dublin, Hamburg, Luettich, New York (Metropolitan Museum and Picture gallery of Public Library), Nice, Philadelphia (Wiltach Collection), Vienna (Gallery Czernin). His watercolour portrait by E. Giraud situated in Louvre (Cab.of Est.)
