Heinrich (Heinrich Wilhelm; known in France as Henri Guillaume) Schlesinger was a painter of portraits and genre subjects. He was born in 1814 in Frankfurt a. M., became a naturalized Frenchman. He died in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1893.

Schlesinger studied at the Viennese Academy; was active in Vienna and Paris; lived in London in 1870-1871. He began exhibiting in 1840 at the Salon of Paris, showing his works there regularly until 1889. He was awarded with the French Order of Legion of Honour. Schlesinger´s watercolour portraits and miniatures on ivory became his specialties in his earliest period. Some works stemming from this time belong to the collection of the "Vienna-Museum". Similarly, the Museum of Versailles hosts some of Schlesinger´s works from his French period.
