Wood hand-crafted and gold-plated screen or paravan from the Belle Epoque time with original watercolour , signed and dated 1886 and depicting flying cupids, flowers and birds. This extreme screen was executed in Vienna in 1880s and the watercolour was created in 1886 by by listed painter, decorator and illustrator Karel (Karl) Zadnik (1847 near Olomoutce/Czech Rep. - 1923 Buchlovice na Morave). The artist and illustrator, he studied in Brno, then moved to Vienna, where worked as decorator and illustrator. His illustrations for such famous humor magazines of the time: "Floh" (Vienna), "Vesele Listy" (Brno) broken him the popularity. From Vienna he moved to Budapest, where he published humoristic news paper . later he returned to Vienna , where worked as decorator and studied at the Viennese Art Academy. exhibited his works in the Viennese Union "Kuenstlerhaus2 and "Secession".
