Lovely genre painting by famous austrian-german painter Hermann Knopf (born 1870 in Vienna). He studied 1887 - 1891 at the Art Academy in Vienna ( by J.V.Berger) and in Munich ( by A.Liezen-Mayer), worked 1896 - 1897 in Paris by F.Cormon and then in Munich. A member of Artist Union in Munich, since 1894 exhibited in "Glaspalast". The artist was popular for portrait and genre paintings, travelled to Holland where find motifs for his paintings. His works exhibited around of Europe : in Berlin (1899-1901,1905,1908, 1912), in Dresden 1908, Vienna 1903, Duesseldorf 1908, Paris ( Salon of Society of French Art 1903), St. Louis (USA) by World Exhibiton 1904. Today are his paintings in the collections of Muenster State museum, Munich Pinakotek, Munich city museum.
Inscription: signed Hermann Knopf Munich lower left, on the frame original bronse plaque with name of painter.
