High qualitative Biedermaier miniature of a young noble lady (gouache on ivory) under rare original convex glass and mounted in original period gilded bronze matt and bronze frame. This extreme fine miniature depicts a beautiful young noble lady (probably of Russian origin) and was executed (dated) in 1830 by important German miniature artist Johann Michael Holder (1796 Hildrizhausen - 1861 Stuttgart). The author of miniature was also known for his numerous portraits of the Russian noble personalities . This fact as well as physiognomic resemblance to portraits of Russian beauties of this time say for the reason, why the sitter on our minitaure can be of Russian origin. . Holder studied at the Stuttgart and Munich Fine Arts academies and since 1836 - at the St.Petersburg Academy. At the biginning of his carrier he recieved acknowledge for his copies after old masters in galleries of Munich, Dresden, Praque, Paris. For his copy after Tizian, he became the honorary member of Academy in Dresden. in 1836 he is at the St.Petersburg Academy, where he portrayed his academical fellow A.J. Sauerweid and exhibited a miniature of painter of A. Varneck at the academic exhibition. During his Russian period he created also a lot of oil portraits of Russian high society . After his return to home, during folowing years, he painted portraits in oil and minatures on ivory of many important German noble persons, including Duke Adolf of Nassau, State Minister Otto, Prince Alexander zu Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen (illustrated by Lemberger), Prince Carl of Bavaria, life-size portrait of King William of Württemberg.
