Masterfully early 19th century portrait of a young lady with book, and depicting due to the original German inscription on the backside of canvas (in English): "Fanny Fischer, born. Loriz gen. v. Paur. / born 1807. painted 1830 / by Tellot ". The portrait signed by the artist, lower left, with hard-to-read monogram. For comparisons of type of monogram see "Monogrammlexikon 2". Berlin/New York 1995, page. 539. The author of this portrait Ernst Joseph Thelott originated from famous artists family in Augsburg. His father Ernst Carl Gottlieb T. and brother Karl Franz Josef were portrait artists too. Ernst Joseph T. studied by his father (occasionally confused with him). His portraits of noble ladies are very rare on the art market.
