This turtle box with fine portrait miniature on ivory was executed ca. 1780s in France. The miniature on the cover executed by a French artist as gouache on ivory and mounted in gold mat. On the inside of the screw cap are written by the artist the initials of the depicting lady .

Inscription: remainder of signature on the edge middle, on the reverse of upper cover - iniatials of the sitter.

Technique: turtle box with the miniature on ivory on the cover, mounted in gold mat.

Measurements: miniature diameter 1 1/4" x 1 2/3" (3 x 4 cm), diameter of the box 2 1/3 " (6 cm)

Condition: in very good condition .
