Masterfully religious painting was executed ca. in 1840s-1850s in the style of famous Nazarene School and despite the absence of the signature , have all stylistic criteria to be attributed to the hand of well-known Czech historical and religious painter Frantisek Cermak (1822 - Praque - 1884). In 1854 the artist created 14 canvases " Cross way of Jesus" for Praque church of Virgin Mary before the Tyn, which are stilistic very similar to our painting. Frantisek Cermak , famous Bohemian painter studied in 1837-49 At the Fine Art Academy in Prague under Christian Ruben and Frantisek Tkadlík. Study trips to Italy, Dalmatia and Belgium, 1856 to Paris, where he worked in the atelier of Thomas Couture. After working in Prague; from 1878 Professor at the Praque Academy, very popular history painter , also religious works (series " Way of cross" for churces in Cesky Krumlov and Virgin Maria before Tyn in Praque. In addition, genre paintings (fruit growers in Dalmatia) created under the impression of his travels.
