Rare scene in Cairo with cockfighting was executed in the early 20th century by listed German-Austrian impressionist and orientalist Emil Uhl ( born 1864 in Brüx). Pupil of Fine Arts Academy in Munich, further trained in Paris by Bonnat and Roll. Worked in Munich and Vienna. The artist travelled to Orient: Samarkand, Egypt, Palestine , from where he recieved main motives for his paintings. His oriental landscapes, executed in the impressionistic manner, are very rare on the art market .
