"Nymph watch the fight of tritons" was executed in the end of 19th cenury by famous Czech artist Benes Knüpfer (1844 Sychrov, Bohemia - 1910 Adriatic sea, suicide). This large allegorical painting is one of the artist`s replics with the same composition and different dimensions (similar painting situated in the Austrian gallery Belvedere ). After study at the academies in Praque and Munich (under C.von Piloty), Knuepfer went to Rome as an Austrian pensioner.Here took place genre and historical paintings , Italian landscapes with bright I sometimes strong colors, portraits and navy representations, including nudes, nymphes, tritons , delphins. In addition, he worked as a photographer. From occasional visits to Prague, the painter lived permanently in Italy. His group exhibition held in Praque Rudolphinum 1908. Works by him situated in the Gemäldegalerie , Duesseldorf, Belvedere in Vienna , in the different noble private collections, many of them were illustrated in the famous magazine of those time "Zlata Praha".
