This original painting was executed by Karl Sterrer (born 1885 in Vienna, died there in 1972), an important Austrian portrait, genre, still life and landscape painter. Karl Sterrer was a son of an Austrian sculptor, studied in the Vienna Academy under Alois Delug and Christian Griepenkerl. In 1921 he started his career in the Vienna Academy first as a professor, and then as Rector. In 1930 Sterrer was invited to the USA by Carnegie Institute and took time to paint landscapes with staffages. Our painting is an early work of the artist which makes it more interesting. The artist was awarded numerous prizes for his works. Personal exhibitions: 1913 Glaspalast Munich, 1922 Kuenstlerhaus Vienna, 1933 Secession Vienna.
