High qualitative sporting painting depicting race horse Whisperer, the winner of the Portland Plate, Doncaster, 1893 with the jockey, it was painted in 1902 by good listed British painter Godfrey Douglas Giles ( 1857 Kurrachee/India - 1923 Edinburgh, Great Britain). His painting with sporting horses arrive high results (to 40000 USD) by international auctions. The artist, born in India, entered 1875 the English army, which he left as a major 1884 after combat-rich years (India, Afganistan, Egypt), in order to study painting in Paris under Carolus Duran. 1884 - 1888 he exhbited in the London Royal Academy and 1885 in Paris Salon scenes from the Sudan and Afganistan campaigns, parforce hunting scenes, later racing and horse paintings. In the Londoner British Museum is one portrait by him also known many colored reproductionslithographies and the military costume designs.

Inscription: signed and dated 1902 lower left, titled "The Whisperer, the last of hermits and Teloates (jokey)" lower right, on the frame lower mounted original bronze plaque with memory inscription . "Whisperer, the winner of the Portland Plate, Doncaster, 1893".

Technique: oil on canvas. Original period frame.

Measurements: unframed w 36 1/4 " x h 28 " (92 x 71 cm), framed w 35 1/4" x h 43 1/3" (89,5 x 110 cm)
