Romantical portrait of a peasant Roman girl with a basket of oranges was executed in Rome in 1847 by listed Czech genre and historical painter Johann (Giovanni) Endler (1821 Salmov/Bohemia - 1851 Triest). The artist studied in Praque , since 1841 - pupil and assistent by renowed Austrian historical painter Carl Rahl in Rome. Here he worked as genre, historical and religious painter until his early death in Triest in 1851 in the age of 30 years on the way to homeland Bohemia . His painting are extreme rare on the international market . We found only one historical painting "Rachel by well" by Endler, estimated for sale in the international auction houses (Hampel, on 27.03.2009) .
