Hand-coloured lithography from the early 19th century depicting etnographic scenes from the Nord Asia of Russain Empire : dancing Volga cossacks ; cossack woman; woman of Cheremis folk and family of Chuvash folk. The Volga Cossacks were free Cossack communities, formed from among the runaway peasants along the Volga River in the 16th century in Russia.Cheremis folk or in the modern Russian language ; Mari folk is Volga-Finnic people, who have traditionally lived along the Volga and Kama rivers in Russia.The majority of Maris today live in the Mari El Republic, with significant populations in the Tatarstan and Bashkorstan republics.Chuvash folk are a Turkic ethnic group, native to an area stretching from the Volga region to Siberia. Most of them live in Republic Chuvashia and surrounding areas, although Chuvash communities may be found throughout all Russia.

Technique: antique lithography on paper , hand-coloured, unframed.
