This high qualitative realistic genre scene depicts a peasant interior with awaked baby and a inexperienced falled asleep baby-sitter. The painting was executed in 1860 , it was signed by the author with monogramm L.F. In accordance with the identity of the artist's monogram, theme and style of this painting, we have attributed it to the hand of famous Belgian-French painter and etcher Leopold Flameng (1831 Brussels - 1911), who since 1853 worked in Paris as etcher and painter. This monogramm of the painter was represanted in the important German lexicon "Monogrammisten" by Dr.Nagler, ,p. 351, Munich,1921. It's known only a few paintings by L.Flameng, because he was active primarily as a graphic artist and his oil paintings are more rare. The author of the above lexicon described several paintings by Flameng, which have similar motives with our work. For exemple , ""Mother with a child"; "Two children with doll" and others.
