A pair of round paintings (identical dimensions and frames) depicts peasant children with Bavatian alpine landscapes on the background and was executed by German genre and landscape painter Eduard Merk (1816 - Munich - 1888). He studied in Rome in 1838, later return to Munich and created a lot of scenes from Upper Bavarian folk live, historical and genre paintngs. .
