Rare folk portrait work by Michail Nikolaevich Dobronravov (1904 Belgorod, Russia - 1979 Lvov, Ukraine) studied in 1922-1929 at Kharkov Art Institute under S. M. Prokhorov, A. O. Kokel´, M. N. Burachek and M. S. Fedorov. From 1931 he was active as an art teacher - at first at "Rabfak" (university´s preliminary stage for workers), then - at Kharkov Art Institute (1934-1941), and in 1952-1967 at the Children Art College in Lvov. In 1930-32 he was a member of AChCzU (Association of Artists of Red Ukraine). Works of his can be seen in most important Ukrainian museums.
