This watercolour is part of 5 pieces ( we sell all 5 designs only together, items No. 2329-2333 ), was executed in 1900s as original theater designs for the famous theater play with Russian subject "Michel Strogoff", took place in theater Chatelet, Paris in 1900s. This collection of designs were executed in the time and style of prominent Russian theater painters - decorators, who recieved acknowledge with work for prominent Serge Diaghilev Ballets Russes in the Opera de Paris from 1909 to1929. .The author of this 5 designs is good listed French theater decorator and book illustrator Maurice Jaubert de Becque, named also Maurice d´Attys (1878 Saumur/ (Maine-et-Loire - 1938), who worked in Paris in 1900s and recieved acknowledge at the first as book illustrator : edition Gerges Cres (30 colour wood cuts for Fables by Jean de La Fontaine, 1924); for Poetry comletes by Arthur Rimbaut (1925); Le misanthrope von Molière, 1923; edition of Simon Kra (12 etchings for Dshungel book by Rudyard Kipling, 1930) and others. Nearby he created watercolours for different French theater of the time .
