Mountain landscape with a historical post - chaise station was executed by famous Lithuanian of jewish origin Nikolai ( Nicolaus) Schattenstein ( 1877 by Kovno in Lithuania, now Whiterussia - 1954 New York). After study he moved to Berlin , where exhibited in 1906 and recieved Michael-Beer-Prize at the Academy. Schattenstein was well-known portrait painter in Germany, Vienna, created portraits of aristocraty and famous European personalities: Raoul Auernheimer, Mrs. Regina Vanderbilt, Lew Trotzki. His works are in museums of Warshaw and Vienna. To 1939 he emigrated to USA, where exhibited : 1948 by French & Co. in New York ; Memory - Exhibition in 1955 in Schoneman Gallery, in 1956 in the Duveen-Graham Gallery, Empire Theater in New York .
