Masterfully portrait , depicting a young noble lady , was executed in 1837 , signed and dated Brown 1837 , was attributed to listed American miniature and portrait painter Henry James Brown (1811 - 1855), who worked in Virginia and Philadelphia. In addition that painting signed Brown, our attribution itself justified on the fact that Brown studied by famous American portrait painter Thomas Sully and our portrait has some stylistic similarities with works of T. Sully.
