Rare quality high baroque miniature of a young nobleman with a favorite dog, visible inscription on the tape in Latin: Sperani (in English: Hope). The sitter of the miniature is probably Max Emanuel Cure Prince (in German: Kurfuerst) of Bavaria (1662 - 1726). For physiognomic similarity see portrait of the same time and the same sitter by Joseph Vivien (situated in Residence Museum , Munich). !!! Please note,vertical and horizontal lines on image are borders of grooved original glass and not the damages on miniature.

Inscription: unsigned, on the blue ribbon there is undecoded inscription , written in gold: "?SPERANI?" .

Technique: oil on cooper. Original glass and fire gilt bronze frame.

Measurements: unframed w 1 5/8" x 3 " (4,3 x 7,7 cm), framed w 2 " x h 3 1/4 " ( 5 x 8,3 cm).

Condition: in very good condition.
