A pair of painting with beauties as allegories of Painting and Literature was executed in the end of 19th century by famous Austrian genre salon painter Max Levis (born 1863 in Hamburg). The pupil of Academy in Karlsruhe by Th.Peckh and Ferdinand Keller, then study in Munich by J.Herterich and L.Löfftz, since 1888 lived and worked in Vienna.
