Early Venice view created in 1850 by famous Austrian landscape and oriental painter Bernhard Fiedler ( 1816 Berlin - 1904 Triest ).
The painting depicting view of San Goirgio Maggiore in Venice and on foreground drived a Gondola with romantic lovers and a poet on the board. Under image on the frame there is an original hand inscription as philosophic quotation in Gothic German : " Diese Gondel vergleich ich der sanft einschaukelnden Wiege. Zwischen der Wiege und dem Sarg wir schwanken und schweben und das Kästchen darauf scheint ein geräumiger Sarg auf dem grossen Kanal sorglos durchs Leben dafuhr" (we try to translate it in english: ".. this gondola comparison I with a cradle in-swinging . Between the cradle and the coffin we vary and float and the box on the gondola look like as a roomy coffin on the large channel carelessly moved over life along" .
The author of this romantical Venice view Bernhard Fiedler (1816 Berlin - 1904 Triest) was famous landscape and oriental painter , studied at the Berlin Art Academy and was also a pupil of decoration painter Johann Gerst and marine painter Wilhelm Kraus. After his study and life in Venice, Triest and Dalmacia in 1843 , he recieved the prohibiton from King Friedrich Wilhelm IV to paint castles of Count Coll´Alto in Friaul. In 1848 he was a drawing teacher by Great Duchess Charlotte, wife of austrian Duce Maximilian ( later King ofMexico ) in Triest. Also later Fiedler settled in Triest and worked for noble houses of Austria and Prussia. In 1853 he accompanied the ambassador Karl Ludwig von Bruck in travel to Constantinople. In 1854 on prohibiton of prussian king Fiedler travelled to Asia Minor, Syria, Palestina and Egypt . Same route he made with Duke of Brabant ( next King Leopold II of Belgium). Next orient travells artist made untill 1882. Afterthen he lived till his death in Triest. He took part in the regular exhibitons in Austria and Germany. Bernhard Fiedler is one of the most important austrian romantical orientalists. His biography can be find in the exhibition catalogue ( in german) " Orient .
