Rudolph I, also known as Rudolph of Habsburg, who was King of the Romans from 1273 played a vital role in raising the Habsburg dynasty to a leading position among the German feudal dynasties, from him come the emperors of Austria .The Habsburg legend tells story about the piety of Count Habsburg : the count meet the priester , who hurried to a dying and gave him his own horse , thereby he can the cross rapid brook.
Our painting was purchased by the last owner from the property of Royal House of Hanover ( important Century-auction of Sotheby´s in the Castle Marienburg "Works of Art from the Royal House of Hanover", 5 - 15 October 2005, Lot 1875) and was exhibited long time in Province-Museum of Hanover (Cataogue of 1905 " Paintings in the Fideikommiss-gallery of House of Brauenschweig, which were exhibited as loan in Museum of Hanover") .
This painting was executed in 1830 by renowed German painter Friedrich Karl Müller (1801 - 1889). The artist studied in the Academy in Kassel, in 1820-1831 studied in Rome . Since 1832 till 1875 - Professor and director of the Academy in Kassel.
Works: Paintings by F.K.Müller (including our painting ) were situated in Museum of Hanover, in museum of Kassel and in the church of Franziscus(Franziskanerkirche) in Marburg.
