Isonzoschlacht am heilen Kreuzes-Tableau, Originalzeichnung von Anton Seiler"."Battles of the Isonzo" were a series of battles between the Austria-Hungarian and Italian armies in World War I. They were fought along the Isonzo River on the eastern sector of the Italian Front between June 1915 and November 1917. Most of the battles were fought on the territory of modern Slovenia, and the remainder in Italy.During the First World War, the Soèa (known as Isonzo in Italian and German language, or Sontig in old German) valley was part of the Alpine sector of the Italian Front, along the which the armies of Italy and Austria-Hungary clashed. It is known as the Soška fronta in Slovenian and is usually translated as Isonzo Front by Slovenian and Austrian historians.The author of all 3 drawings: german painter and illustrator Anton Carl Wilhelm Seiler (1846 Wiesbaden - 1912 Munich). He was a pupil by karl Raupp in Academy in Munchen. In 1894/1895- profeessoe of Academy in Berlin, later in Munich again.Honr member of academy in Munich since 1890 and member of Academy in Berlin since 1895.Inscription: all signed and dated in print with monogram; second signed under image with pencil, third dated 1915 and signed on the back with pencil.Technique: drawings on photo base /paper.
