Fine male portrait of the middle of 19th century was attributed to the hand of Austrian portrait and miniature painter Albert Theer (1815-1902). Brother of ánother Austrian miniature painters Robert and Adolf Theer, Albert Theer studied in the Etching Department of Vienna Fine Arts Acdaemy and in 1835 began his carrier as miniature painter and lithographer. In Theer´s works one can immediately see the influence of Moritz Michael Daffinger, most renowed Austrian miniature painter. From 1835 Theer frequently exhibited his works.
