Romantic portrait of a italian beauty created in 1872 in Rome by good-listed German historical and portrait painter Carl Gotfried Ferdinand Ehrenberg (1840 Dannau by Oldenburg in Holstein - 1914 Dresden). The artist studied in the Art Academies in Copenhagen and Dresden, later by J.Hübner and in Atelier by Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld (in 1862). He recieved scholarship and settled for 3 years in Rome where he worked under influence of Overbeck. Our portrait created in this time. From Rome he took part as volunteer in the german-french war. In 1875 after short stay in Munich and Kopenhagen he settled in Dresden , where created his best historical paintings with north-german mythological subject: 12 large cardboards , monumental painting "Walkyrenschlacht"(1884), "Die Nornen", allegorical paintings , portraits of famous personalities (Franz Liszt, Princess Feodora von Schleswig-Holstein and soon). His works situated in historical buildings and churches in Dresden.
