High quality miniature portrait of a young lady (on the reverse of miniature - old inscription with name of sitter: Maria Kastelli) painted in ca. 1830-s by well known Austrian portraitist and miniaturist Franz Schrotzberg .
Franz Schrotzberg (1814 Vienna - 1889 Graz) was a pupil of Vienna Academy and from 1832 exhibited his oil portraits and miniatures at the academical exhibitions very soon gaining great popularity as a portraitist among the royals and the high society in Austria and abroad (specially for his female portraits). His works can be seen in the Austrian National Gallery "Belvedere" and other noted museums in Austria and worldwide.

Technique: gouache on ivory. Original period gilt bronze frame.
Measurements: unframed w 2 3/4" x h 7 1/8" (6 x 8 cm), framed w 5 2/3" x h 6 1/8" ( 13,5 x 15,5cm).
