Peter Ernst Rockstuhl (1764-1824), russian portrait miniature painter , born 1764 possibly in Warsaw , died in 1824 in St.Petersburg.. His son Alois Gustav Rockstuhl , also famous miniature painter (), born in Riga. After 1798 the family came to St.Petersburg , where the painter soon became a very popular miniaturist, whose sitters were members of the high aristocracy and royalities. They were situated in russian private and public collections, among them 25 miniatures in the Historical Museum Moscow and 10 works - in the Russian Museum and Hermitage).
